Chewing Poetry

Like a ruminant
I re-chew lines of poetry,
sometimes mine,
on my walks.
I say the same lines over and over to myself.
A compulsion, probably harmless,
not listed in the book of common troubles.
Toward what end?
I don't know.
It just feels good
and makes me happy.
